OUR MANIFESTO
The three R’s. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle! We've been fed this mantra since pre-k. In elementary school they told us our county landfills were filling up. In middle school we joined the community clean up crew. In high school we learned about the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Then we tried to save the sea turtles, eradicate plastic straws, we buy bamboo toothbrushes and eco-friendly socks but the problem keeps growing. And listen, really, we're not trying to ruin your day or anything but the thing is, a lot of the plastic you’re putting into those big blue bins ends up in the same place as the garbage. No, like, seriously- 91% of plastic that is “recycled” doesn't actually end up being recycled. Yeah, 91%... We know it’s discouraging. With the climate crisis so much of it can feel out of our control- we may try our best but it can feel like nothing we do matters. At Dassani we recognize that as a large corporation we hold a significant amount of responsibility in steering the wheel towards climate justice- so we’ve got together with some of the world's most renowned recycling geniuses and we are going to start recycling transparently. No big blue bin of lies, only clarity, and honesty about where your recycled plastics are going and what they are turning into- hell we wanna give you a chance to decide on the details. So please don’t give up on recycling, but join us and let's do it better, together.
